Peoples' Self-Help Housing gets $1.4 million grant

Peoples’ Self-Help Housing Corp. in San Luis Obispo has received a $1.4 million U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant, Rep. Lois Capps announced Monday.

The grant is provided to nonprofit organizations and public agencies that help working-class and needy individuals build homes in rural areas, according to a news release from Capps’ office.

The grant will help provide technical assistance to 50 families throughout the Central Coast.

Peoples’ Self-Help Housing currently operates 30 affordable housing complexes in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties and provides housing for more than 5,000 low-income individuals.
