The San Luis Coastal School District school board is holding a special study session Tuesday to discuss math courses and the changes expected because of the transition to Common Core State Standards.

The new standards require an additional year of math instruction.

Parents and teachers are invited to the study session, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the District Multipurpose Room, 1500 Lizzie St., San Luis Obispo.

Trustees will discuss the standards further at a meeting on Nov. 5 and again on Nov. 19, when the changes will be adopted.
