Previous Morro Bay City Councils ignored years of resident complaints about the city attorney and other senior city staff. Finally, we have a council majority that listens to the residents and thoroughly investigates complaints and related issues.
Kudos to Mayor Jamie Irons and to council members Christine Johnson and Noah Smukler. They have demonstrated that they have the integrity and the courage to make the tough decisions and do what is right for Morro Bay. Things havent looked so bright for our town for many, many years.
As for the small group that opposes the council majoritys actions, they are the members of the old guard a group that, for decades, controlled the city to their advantage, and to the disadvantage of the majority of residents. Clearly, they are furious about losing control and are trying desperately to regain it through a ridiculous and potentially costly recall effort.
Their time is past. Its a new day in Morro Bay.
