Two new commercial buildings totaling 37,230 square feet have been approved for Aerovista Place near the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

The buildings, being built by San Luis Obispo developer Volny Investment Company, will likely be leased as office spaces and to medical tenants, said Steve Pults, architect. Construction on the project, approved by the city’s Architectural Review Commission Monday, is expected to begin early next year.

Pults said that they will begin seeking tenants now that the project has been approved.

The buildings, one single-story and one two-story with contemporary designs, are located on the northwest corner of Aerovista Place and Broad Street, adjacent to multi-tenant office buildings. A combination of plaster, metal siding and metal awnings will be used on the outside the buildings.

The project falls within the city’s Airport Area Specific Plan. The Architectural Review Commission asked the developer to add more outdoor space for people using the building, such as a place to eat lunch.

Pults said that final construction drawings are being done and an application for a permit to build will soon follow.
