ACA confusion

Morro BayOctober 25, 2013

The Affordable Care Act has created so much confusion that the news media seems unable to cover it. Your favored Democratic Congress passed the expensive law without understanding the 2,000-plus pages. Now we find the $600 million http://healthcare.gov  website is a mess, many will not be able to keep their former doctors (nor find new ones), and we will have much higher premiums and huge deductible/out-of-pocket expenses before any insurance coverage kicks in.

Why doesn’t the president seem to care that the majority of us disapprove? Perhaps because he will first blame others, and then move on to his expressed goal of universal health care for all, run by the federal bureaucracy, a la Russia.

During the Obamacare debate, the Republicans advocated a plan to allow health insurance purchase across state lines to keep prices down, portability between jobs, coverage of pre-existing conditions, tort reform and state exchanges/ Medicaid expansion for the poor. They realized the federal government’s weakness on doing anything well, except our military. Obamacare prevailed on a straight party line.

I urge you to get more balanced coverage in your newspaper, and stop the anti-Tea Party trivia and banal cartoons.
