Viable counterpoint

Morro BayOctober 21, 2013

It is painful to watch the current self-induced implosion of the Republican party as they drink the Kool Aid of the Tea Party extremists. What happened to the thoughtful and moderate party of Eisenhower and Lincoln?

The devolution of the Republican party into extremism does not bode well for our democracy. As a liberal progressive, I am painfully aware of the need for a viable counterpoint to the Democrats. Without a credible opposite side of the aisle, we run the risk of a slippery slope to one-party rule.
