Authorities are investigating a fire that burned two storage units and a detached garage in a neighborhood in Atascadero on Saturday.

The fire, which began sometime before 5:40 p.m., occurred at 7400 Valle Avenue, according to a news release from the Atascadero Fire Department.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found two 10-by-15-foot wooden outdoor storage buildings on fire. The flames spread to a nearby two-car garage, but firefighters extinguished it before the garage’s contents, which included a vehicle, were damaged.

The fire caused about $22,000 in property damage, according to the news release. It is believed to have originated inside one of the storage units, but no cause has been determined.

The property owners were not harmed in the fire.
