Oops. A man checking out the expansive coastal view at a turnout half a mile from Ragged Point Inn on Highway 1 appeared to lose his footing and slid 200 feet down the cliff Saturday morning.

The man was with a friend who called 911 about 9:15 a.m. for help, a Cal Fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters rescued the man by rappelling down the cliff, securing him into a rope and harness and pulling him safely back to the top, the dispatcher said. The man was not injured in the fall.
