Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande goes 2-0 at boys water polo tourney

Arroyo Grande High’s boys water polo team won both of its games at the El Segundo Tournament on Friday over El Segundo, 11-5, and Hoover, 12-4.

Jack Empey scored eight goals on the day, Daniel Systic added five and Hunter Roberts had four. Clint Doucette had 10 saves while Ronan Paulsen provided six for the Eagles (13-5).

Mission Prep downs Coast Union in girls volleyball

Noelle Laird had 13 kills and 16 digs to power Mission Prep to a 25-7, 25-14, 25-23 girls volleyball win over Coast Union.

Rachel Hindmarsh had eight kills, Catherine Ikeda had 17 assists, and Jennifer Laird had 22 digs for Mission Prep.

Eleri Perryman led Coast Union (7-7) with six kills and 12 digs. Sage Radecki had 19 assists for the Broncos.

Meko leads Nipomo girls cross country team to fourth-place finish

Kyra Meko led the Nipomo High girls cross country team with a second-place finish at the Rough Rider Invitational at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Meko completed the 5K course in 18 minutes, 53 seconds. Gracie Albano (sixth, 19:06) also was a top finisher as the girls claimed fourth place in the small-schools division.

Rogelio Flores (35th, 17:21) was the top runner for the Titans boys, who finished 16th for small schools.

Mission Prep girls tennis team falls

Mission Prep’s girls tennis team fell 18-0 to Carpinteria.
