Trim elsewhere

Los OsosOctober 18, 2013

I have been a registered nurse for 40 years. I know the system very well. Because of “pre-existing” conditions, I find myself unable to find insurance. So after working very hard for four decades, I have all of my savings and my home at risk.

I am tired of blatant lies and such negative publicity about what I see is a life saver. Yes, you will always be treated at an emergency room. But you will then be treated to a $180,000 bill for a snake bite. Or a $25,000 bill for a broken leg. I have had no trouble applying for the Affordable Care Act. I always get online, and if I call, a person always answers promptly. The application is easy to fill out. I have found no “glitches.”

I know we have to balance the budget. But I suggest that we trim the fat from any area other than the health of our citizens.
