Hearing postponed in Atascadero slaying

A preliminary hearing for an Atascadero man accused of killing a neighbor he thought was evil was postponed Thursday.

Mark Andrews, 49, is charged with fatally shooting Colleen Barga-Milbury, 52, on May 22. Andrews, who has a history of mental illness, has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Andrews appeared in court for a preliminary hearing Thursday, but that hearing was continued to Nov. 14.

According to court documents, Andrews has schizophrenia and believed he felt evil coming from the victim before he knocked on her door and shot her twice with a lever-action .30-30 rifle.
