The city of Atascadero’s information technology department recently snagged accolades in a statewide contest, according to a city news release.

The Municipal Information Systems Association of California awarded its 2013 Excellence in Information Technology Practices award to the city at an annual conference held in Monterey.

The award recognizes outstanding practices in several areas ranging from security, disaster preparation to budget planning.

“We are very proud of our city’s IT (information technology) staff," Mayor Tom O’Malley said in a statement. "They work extremely hard to ensure that all aspects of running our city government operate smoothly in today’s ever-changing technological world."

The city’s information technology department took home the same award in 2008 as well as the association’s achievement award in 2012, according to the news release.
