Transient exposed himself to children in downtown SLO, police say

October 17, 2013

Matthew Gordon, 31, a transient, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child.

A transient was arrested Wednesday for allegedly exposing himself to three people, including two 7-year-old girls, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department

Police received several calls Wednesday reporting that a man in the downtown area was exposing himself, but when “witnesses were reluctant to identify the subject,” officers were unable to make any arrests, the news release states.

Later in the day, around 6:35 p.m., the department received another call regarding a man exposing himself at Chorro and Higuera streets. Police identified the suspect as transient Matthew Gordon, 31.

Gordon, who's suspected of being the same man from the earlier reports, allegedly exposed himself to the male caller and his two 7-year-old daughters, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child — a misdemeanor — and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
