North County couple allegedly leads officers on 40-mile chase in stolen car

A North County couple believed to be driving a stolen car led officers on a 40-mile chase Thursday, starting in Fresno and ending after a brief standoff in Yosemite National Park.

Around 8 p.m., Fresno police tried to stop a Honda with tinted windows traveling north on Highway 41 after learning the car had been taken from an impound lot after previously being reported stolen, according to a report in the Sierra Star.

The occupants — identified as Azar Moore, 34, of Atascadero and Christie Asberry, 38, of Paso Robles — did not pull over, instead leading officers on a 40-plus mile chase and nearly causing "a half-dozen head-on accidents" along the way, authorities said. Read more at sierrastar.com »
