So a few residents in Morro Bay are in high dudgeon because our mayor has taken action against two city employees. The outrage and hysteria has been running high with many people making a slew of scurrilous accusations against the mayor. Of course, now that we know what his reasons are, it all makes sense. The city manager and the city attorney sat in on a secret council meeting, which turns out to be illegal under the Brown Act, and colluded in improving their severance package. Former Mayor Bill Yates states it was all a goof and nothing wrong was done intentionally. Are we supposed to believe this? How many terms did this man serve as mayor?
The city manager and attorney, who are supposed to be knowledgeable and guide the council, instead participated in this illegal action.
The people protesting against Mayor Jamie Irons know that his actions are ethical, legal and in the best interests of the voters of Morro Bay. The city manager and city attorney should resign and perhaps the California State Bar should investigate the city attorney. Mayor Irons is taking measured and appropriate actions in this case and is acting responsibly.
