Nipomo football team routs Cabrillo, 67-36

The Nipomo High football team rolled to a 67-36 win over Cabrillo on Friday night.

The Titans jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter, helped by two successful onside kickoffs.

Nipomo (3-4, 2-1 Los Padres League) went to the half leading 54-20. 

Chris Owens starred for the Titans, running for a 7-yard score on the first possession of the game. When Cabrillo (1-6, 1-2) answered to tie it, he ran back the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a score. With the score 21-13, Owens had a 61-yard kickoff 

return, but failed to reach the end zone and instead went down with an apparent injury. He ended his night with 227 all-purpose yards in less than a half. 

Matt Albright completed 20 of his 30 passes for 330 yards and six touchdowns for Nipomo. Four of those completions went to Luke Nickelson, who had 

93 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Defensively, safety Jacob Mora stood out with an interception and two pass breakups.
