Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande boys water polo team falls to Cerritos

The Arroyo Grande High boys water polo team lost to Cerritos 10-6 at home Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (10-6) trailed 5-1 after the first quarter but shut out the Dons in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 5-4 at halftime.

Jack Empey led Arroyo Grande with three goals, Toby Tonascia had two goals, and Conner Sandman had the other goal.

Three teams win big in Santa Maria

At the Santa Maria Tournament, the Paso Robles boys water polo team had a strong day, beating St. Joseph 15-2 and Bullard 14-3. 

The Bearcats (9-10) were led by Mitchell Iunker, who scored eight goals on the day, and Daniel Maloney and Isaiah Baker, who each scored four times. Gabe Hindley had 12 saves.

San Luis Obispo also won big twice, beating St. Joseph 16-3 and Santa Maria 15-3. Tim Maas and Dan Crozier had nine and eight goals, respectively. Emerson Trout added five goals, and Bo Crozier and Garrett Perkins each scored three.

Atascadero won twice as well, beating Santa Maria 15-11 and Bullard 12-0. 

Dylan Linnencamp led the Greyhounds with seven goals, Dylan Hughes had five and Scott Beraud added four. James Fisher recorded 12 saves for Atascadero (7-10).

Royals girls tennis team is shut out

Immanuel downed Mission Prep 15-0 in a girls tennis match featuring nine singles sets and six doubles sets.
