Cal Poly downs Cal State Northridge in women's soccer

Kendra Bonsall headed in a cross from Sara Epps in the 29th minute to lead the Cal Poly women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night in Northridge.

Elise Krieghoff had five shots, and Haley Walker had four shots for Cal Poly (6-7, 2-1 Big West Conference). Alyssa Giannetti needed one save for her fifth shutout of the season as Cal Poly moved into a first-place tie in the Big West with UC Irvine and UC Riverside.

Cynthia Tafoya had three saves for the Matadors (5-8-1, 0-2-1). The two teams both had 14 shots, but Cal State Northridge was called for 15 fouls and two yellow cards and Cal Poly had nine fouls and no yellow cards.
