Arroyo Grande accepting applications for City Council seat

The city of Arroyo Grande is accepting applications for the appointment of a City Council member to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Caren Ray.

The new council member's term will begin on the date of appointment and end in December 2016. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, live within city limits and be registered to vote in the city of Arroyo Grande.

Applications are available at Arroyo Grande City Hall, 300 E. Branch St., and on the city’s website at www.arroyogrande.org. Original, signed applications must be delivered to the city clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Oct. 18.

A public forum for the candidates will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Community Center, 211 Vernon St. The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters, and applicants will be asked to answer questions from the public.

The City Council will appoint the new council member at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. For more details, call 473-5400.
