Build it to last

Paso RoblesOctober 10, 2013

After reading your article on the paving tests on Highway 1, I got the feeling that the primary concern is the satisfaction of bike riders. The last time I checked, we all pay taxes to pay for roads to be built to last, not for the comfort of a few people’s pastime.

Perhaps these bikers should be paying registration fees to have their own bike lane rather than drivers being forced to share the road on an already busy and dangerous highway.

I am tired of seeing my money spent on shoddy pave jobs. For example, if you’re in Paso, drive down Riverside and tell me your money was well spent!

I just hope we can start building our infrastructure with some integrity, instead of building to rebuild. This sort of “planned obsolescence” is a shameful waste of our money and an inconvenience.
