Maybe to state and county school administrators, students dont count because they cannot vote. But their parents do and so do supporters of those parents in the community.
For reasons of safety (preventing unnecessary trips on that dangerous two-lane section of Highway 1), economy (saving on fuel costs) and time (preserving student and family routines) requiring transfer of Cayucos teens to Morro Bay High School just seems like a no-brainer. Yes, what is effectively school district gerrymandering is complicated. But bureaucrats must find a way to do what makes sense. Why not make this transfer of students to Morro Bay High School truly about the students?
