Righetti holds on to down Arroyo Grande in PAC 7 boys water polo game

The Arroyo Grande High boys water polo team scored three goals in the final four minutes, but Righetti held on to beat the Eagles 9-8 on Tuesday. 

The last time Arroyo Grande (10-4, 3-1 PAC 7) lost a league game was to Righetti in last year’s league championship game. 

Jack Empey led the Eagles with three goals Tuesday, and Hissam el-Effendi scored twice. Clint Doucette had 10 saves in goal for Arroyo Grande. 

All four of the the Eagles’ losses this season have been by one goal. 

Atascadero 16, St. Joseph 5

Scott Beraud, Jack Fisher and Dylan Linnenkamp all scored four goals to lead the visiting Greyhounds over the Knights.

Dylan Hughes had three goals, and Sebastian Cornejo had the other goal for Atascadero (5-10, 1-2 PAC 7). James Fisher had three saves for the Greyhounds.

Paso Robles 16, Pioneer Valley 5

Goalie Gabe Hindley had 13 saves for Paso Robles (7-10, 1-3 PAC 7), including two blocked 5-meter shots and three in one-on-one situations in the road win over the Panthers.

Isaiah Baker and Kohl Coffey scored four goals apiece for Paso Robles (7-10, 1-3 PAC 7).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Arroyo Grande 3, Paso Robles 0

The Eagles swept the Bearcats 25-12, 25-19, 25-18 in a PAC 7 match, led by Megan McGuigan, who tallied 10 kills, two aces and two blocks. 

Ashlyn Herlihy had 10 kills for Arroyo Grande (14-8, 6-0), while Alaina Hogeboom had 36 assists, five digs and two aces. 

Maddie Chace and Morgan Lawson had nine and seven kills, respectively, for Paso Robles (8-8, 1-4) and Chloe Kerns also added 10 assists.

San Luis Obispo 3, St. Joseph 1

Holland Boege led the Tigers with 22 kills as San Luis Obispo beat the Knights 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-20. 

Cambria Joyce had 46 assists for the Tigers (14-6, 4-1 PAC 7).

Atascadero 3, Righetti 1

Kendall Featherstone had 18 kills and 17 digs as the Greyhounds beat the visiting Warriors 25-14, 25-22, 16-25, 25-21.

Sabrina Degnan had 20 digs, and Brooke Harbottle had 35 assists and 10 digs for Atascadero (11-8, 3-2 PAC 7). 

Nipomo 3, Lompoc 2

The Titans held off the Braves 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 21-19. 

Taylor Nevitt led Nipomo (5-7, 4-3 Los Padres League) with 16 kills.

Coastal Christian 3, Shandon 0

The Conquerors swept 25-9, 25-6, 25-6, led by Bethany Young who had four aces 11 kills and eight digs. 

Delaney Springer added five aces, two kills and 13 digs for Coastal Christian (14-4, 6-0 Coast Valley League). 

North County Christian 3, Cuyama Valley 0

The Crusaders swept the Bears 26-24, 25-17, 25-21. 

Aliyah Morrison had nine kills, seven aces and seven digs for North County Christian (9-5, 5-0 CVL).

Coast Union 3, Valley Christian 0

Sage Radecki had 13 aces and 24 assists to lead the Broncos (4-7, 3-2 CVL) over the Lions.

GIRLS GOLF

San Luis Obispo 245, Paso Robles 298

Nora Zakaria was the medalist for the Tigers with a 7-over 43 on the front nine at the Paso Robles Golf Course.

Neha Sikand shot a 44 for San Luis Obispo (8-1, 2-1 PAC 7). Alysa Hansen led the Bearcats with a 56.

GIRLS TENNIS

San Luis Obispo 14, Pioneer Valley 4

The doubles team of Maya O’Brien and Maia Hoffman swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 to lead the Tigers over the Panthers.

The doubles team of Sami Good and Ivee Collins won 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0 for San Luis Obispo (10-4, 6-1 PAC 7), and Annaliese Lippold swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 in singles.

Paso Robles 10, Righetti 8

Maddie Berry, Lindsay Horst and Katie Evenson all won two out of three sets for the Bearcats. 

Paso Robles (7-5, 3-4 PAC 7) also earned two set wins in doubles from Hanna Jorgenson and Arlen Merced.

Arroyo Grande 14, St. Joseph 4

Sophie Whittle won 6-2, 6-1, and Lauren Hayashi swept 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 in singles to lead the Eagles. 

Arroyo Grande (10-1, 7-0 PAC 7) also got doubles sweeps from the teams of Joanne Phung and Angelica Gagliano, and Mekayla Landers and Olivia Madison.

Templeton 9 (77), Morro Bay 9 (70)

The Eagles defeated Morro Bay (3-9, 1-6 LPL) on games, despite the Pirates’ doubles team June Janzen and Sarah Keas sweeping 6-2, 6-3, 6-1.

Nipomo 16, Coast Union 2

All three Titans’ doubles teams swept, led by Sydney Roberts and Mikayla Costello winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. 

Kelly Sprinkler swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 for Nipomo (4-7).
