Multiple forums on the Affordable Care Act’s new insurance requirements, effective Jan. 1, are planned in the North County in the coming weeks. The events are free and open to the public.

The first event will be held at the Oct. 17 meeting of the Atascadero Democratic Club in the AARP building, 7484 Pismo Ave., in Atascadero.

A presentation followed by a question-and-answer session will begin at 7:30 p.m. to discuss individual and small business insurance needs. For more information, call 466-2448.

Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton will also be hosting three public forums to help locals understand the new health insurance laws and enroll if eligible.

Those seminars will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the hospital; Nov. 6 at the Parish Hall at Mission San Miguel; and Nov. 13 at Atascadero Bible Church. To reserve a spot, call 800-483-6387.
