Prep Roundup: Atascadero High football team rises in poll

Greyhounds ranked No. 4 in CIF-Southern Section Northern Division after 14-10 win over Arroyo Grande

Atascadero High’s football team moved up to the No. 4 ranking in the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division poll Monday.

The Greyhounds defeated Arroyo Grande 14-10 at home Friday to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in PAC 7 play.

Last week, Atascadero was ranked seventh.

The only county football team to reach the top ranking in its division this season is Mission Prep — which remained the No. 1 team in the Northeast Division for the fifth straight week.

Morro Bay moved into the Western Division poll’s No. 9 ranking this week after a 28-21 win over Nipomo.

Nipomo girls golf team beats Lompoc

Nipomo High’s girls golf team won Monday, 281-300 over host Lompoc at La Purisima Golf Course.

Christine DeLaby was the medalist, carding a 51 on the front nine. Paige Johnson notched a 55, and Ashley Ruiz shot 57 for the Titans.

Nipomo’s Erin Shusterich carded a 58, and Brooke Cuzick shot 60.

Santa Ynez tops Morro Bay in golf

Morro Bay High’s girls golf team lost Monday, 259-273 at home against Santa Ynez.

The Pirates (1-5 dual matches, 0-3 Los Padres League) were led by Lily Keogh’s 58 and Jamie James’ 51. Santa Ynez’s Jin A. Jones was the medalist with a 44.

The match was played on the front nine at Morro Bay Golf Course, which has a par 35.

Santa Ynez is 1-2 in league matches.
