UPDATE: As of 9 p.m., service had been restored to more than half the 5,600 Arroyo Grande residents affected by a power outage, PG&E spokesperson Jan Morris said.

Morris said 2,500 customers remained without power at that time, adding that PG&E expected full power to be restored by 11:30 p.m.

Morris attributed the outage to a wire down on the 800 block of Halcyon Road. No cause for the downed wire had been determined, and PG&E was continuing to investigate Sunday night.

ORIGINAL STORY: Around 5,600 customers are without power Sunday in Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande, according to PG&E spokesperson Jana Morris.

The power outage looks to have been caused by a downed wire at about 4:34 p.m., though why the wire is down is still under investigation, Morris said.

No estimate is available for how long the power will be out yet, Morris said.
