College Roundup: Gauchos roll past Mustangs in volleyball, 3-1

UC Santa Barbara cruises to 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 win over rival Cal Poly

After winning the first set 27-25, the Cal Poly volleyball lost to rival UC Santa Barbara 3-1 on Saturday on the road.

The Gauchos won the final three sets 25-22, 25-16, 25-21.

Jennifer Keddy and Chelsea Hardin each had 12 kills for the Mustangs (8-8, 2-1 Big West).

Megan McConnell and Steffi Sooter both had 16 digs to lead Cal Poly.

Cal Poly had a 6-5 advantage in aces and out-blocked UC Santa Barbara, 14-7.

Cuesta Rabobank Tournament

The host Cougars went 1-1 on the final day of the tournament.

The Cougars (15-4) lost to Foothill 10-2 in their first game of the day before beating Cerritos, 9-8.

Rachel Gruetzmacher led the Cuesta with four goals. Brie Fleming and Danielle Fennessy both had two goals on the day. Goalie Gabrielle Zimmerman recorded 16 saves.
