Hundreds line up for jobs at Diablo Canyon

newsroom@thetribunenews.comOctober 5, 2013

About 700 people lined up to attend an employment fair at PG&E’s Energy Education Center in San Luis Obispo on Friday.

PG&E expects to hire about 1,000 temporary workers next year when it refuels two reactors at Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.

Unit 1 will be refueled in the spring and Unit 2 will refuel in the fall. Each reactor is shut down for refueling and maintenance about every 18 months. Each outage lasts from six to eight weeks.
