Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande off to good start in San Luis Obispo boys water polo tourney

Jack Empey led the Arroyo Grande High boys water polo team with seven goals Friday as the Eagles won both of their games at the San Luis Obispo Tournament. 

David Vitt had four goals on the day as the Eagles beat Alhambra 7-6 and Foothill 14-5. Toby Tonascia also had two goals in the first game against Alhambra.

Goalie Clint Doucette had 10 saves on the day for Arroyo Grande (8-2).

Atascadero dropped both of its games, losing to Newbury Park 15-2 and El Diamante 12-2. Jack Fisher scored two goals for the Greyhounds (2-8).

Paso Robles lost 11-5 to Woodcreek and 10-4 to Brea Linda.

Isaiah Baker had three goals, and Daniel Maloney had two goals for the Bearcats (4-8).


North County Christian 3, Valley Christian 1

Madison Morrison had 12 kills as the Crusaders won 25-17, 11-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Aliyah Morrison had 11 kills and Gabrielle Morrison had for 24 assists for North County Christian (8-5, 4-0 Coast Valley League). 

Kelsie McRoy had five aces, and Hannah Miller had six digs for North County Christian.


Dunn 9 (91), Coast Union 9 (79)

The Broncos lost on the games won tiebreaker, but Maddie May went undefeated in singles, sweeping 7-5, 6-4, 7-5. 

Coast Union (2-7) also got a strong performance from the doubles team of Michelle Campos and Ariel Bruce, who won two sets.
