Letter to the Editor

Intended purpose

Los OsosOctober 4, 2013

While the letter of Joe Laraneta is correct — “people kill people” — it ignores the intended purpose of the tool. Yes, swimming pools do kill people, but the manufacturers’ intended purpose does not include killing people or animals.

Perhaps one ought to ask a military serviceman or policeman if he has ever killed or protected himself with a swimming pool? Other than target use and occasional accidental discharge, inflicting harm or death is inherent in the intended purpose of the tool.
