Letter to the Editor

Obama facts

San Luis ObispoOctober 2, 2013

Ken McDaniels’ Sept. 28 letter is long on hyperbole and short on facts.

Fact: Every national poll shows the majority of Americans don’t want Obamacare.

Fact: Barack Obama has thumbed his nose at his Constitutional requirement to present for passage a yearly budget. The United States operates now (and for five years) on continuing resolutions. This causes our continuing “shutdown” crises.

Fact: Obama exempted Congress from portions of Obamacare they enacted without reading and foisted on us. Republicans want this exemption repealed, and make Congress unable to exempt itself from laws it enacts.

Fact: Obama unconstitutionally changed enacted legislation to grant waivers to wealthy and to big business. Republicans want waivers removed or granted to every citizen by Constitutional congressional action.

Fact: Obama is willing to negotiate with terrorist Iran, but not with congressional Republicans.

Fact: Your paper appears to have an agenda to make “shutdown” the fault of Republicans, and is slanting all news by withholding facts and repeating lies.
