The annual San Luis Obispo Heart and Stroke walk will take place Saturday at the Bob Jones Pathway and Avila Beach promenade.
More than 600 people are expected to participate. The years event is dedicated to the late Paul Teixeira, a county supervisor who died in June of coronary heart disease.
Participants can chose between a 3-mile and 1-mile walk. Participation is free.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., and opening ceremonies will take place at 9:40 a.m. Participants can also receive complimentary health screenings and enjoy heart-healthy foods and activities. For information, visit .
