Cuesta to host active youth event

Cuesta College is set to host an all-day event aimed at raising awareness among children for National Energy Awareness Month on Saturday.

The Energy Event will feature a 5K “Energy Run” and Kids’ Fun Dash, a bounce house, hands-on energy projects, a “green car” show and performances by local band The Bucket Busters and environmental rap superhero Mr. Eco.

Local students from nine elementary schools throughout the county also will have energy projects created with the help of the newly established Cuesta Sustainability Resource Center on display, and will present them from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The event is free and includes an on-site lunch. Advance registration for the 5K race is $20 and can be accessed at www.running  . The Kids’ Fun Dash is free.
