Brush fire contained off Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo

UPDATE:

San Luis Obispo City Fire confirmed it has contained the 1½-acre brushfire on Calle Joaquin in San Luis Obispo.

The fire, which began shortly after 4 p.m. on the hill between the KSBY building and southbound Highway 101, was contained sometime around 5:30 p.m., though teams are still on scene, according to SLO City Fire.

The fire originally had a moderate rate of spread that was exacerbated by light wind from the west, SLO City Fire officials said.

No structures were harmed and no injuries were reported.

The San Luis Obispo Fire Department is responding to a vegetation fire near the KSBY building, off southbound Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo.

The brush fire, located on the hill below the news station's building, was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to dispatch calls.

There is concern light wind in the area may spread the fire.
