Evan Talbert had four touchdown receptions on just five catches as the Mission Prep football beat visiting Linfield Christian 45-14 Friday night.

Talbert finished with 110 yards receiving. Quarterback Patrick Miller was 7 of 15 for 142 yards with four touchdowns and an interception.

The Royals led 21-0 at halftime. After Linfield Christian (2-3) pulled within 28-14, Calvin Levisay returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to give Mission Prep (4-1) complete control.

Linfield Christian was held to 51 rushing yards on 36 carries. Leading rusher Scott Brazil was held to 33 yards on 15 carries.

Patrick Laird had 198 rushing yards on 27 carries and narrowly missed rushing for 200 yards for a fourth consecutive game for Mission Prep.

“They tried to stuff the box and contain Laird. This gave us a lot of 1-on-1 man coverage on the outside,” Mission Prep coach Chad Henry said. “Our young quarterback made the throws, and Talbert had a great game. It’s difficult to beat us when we are balanced.”
