Eagles post wins over Trabuco Hills and Beckman

The Arroyo Grande High boys water polo team defeated Trabuco Hills 15-10 and Beckman 8-7 on Friday at the Irvine Tournament.

Jack Empey had eight goals for the Eagles (4-1) against Trabuco Hills.

Goalies Clint Doucett and Ronin Paulsen had seven saves each for Arroyo Grande.

Against Beckman, the Eagles scored five goals in the fourth quarter to come from behind and beat the Patriots.

Empey scored four goals, Hissam el-Effendi scored two, and Doucett had 10 saves.

Arroyo Grande will play in the semifinals at 1 p.m. today against Woodbridge.

A.G. tops Valencia in girls tennis

Arroyo Grande’s girls tennis team avenged its only loss this season with an 11-7 win at Valencia.

In singles, Sophie Whittle and Lauren Hayashi both swept their sets for Arroyo Grande (8-1).

Whittle won 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and Hayashi won 6-3, 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles team of Joanne Phung and Angelica Gagliano swept 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.

Olivia Madison and Mekayla Landers won two out of three sets in doubles.

Coast Union girls tennis beats Dunn

Melissa Mathieson swept her three singles sets to lead the Coast Union girls tennis team to a 13-5 win over Dunn.
