JAYSON MELLOM — The Tribune

Joel Peterson, who has been with Hope Family Wines for eight years, most recently as director of communications, has joined Solterra Strategies as its marketing strategist.

He’ll begin work Oct. 1 with the lifestyle marketing firm’s clients in the wine and tourism industry.

In overseeing communications for Hope Family Wines, Peterson helped increase the visibility of its five brands. His “Wine is …” video won first place in Wine Spectator’s annual video contest in 2010, according to a news release.

“Even though we’re losing Joel, he’ll continue to be part of our team, not only in helping bring more awareness to the region, but also in helping us create more lifestyle marketing,” said Gretchen Roddick, general manager of Hope Family Wines.

Stacie Jacob, founder and chief strategist of Solterra Strategies, said Peterson brings “vision, creativity and experience to the table.”
