Anthony Mejia has been named the new San Luis Obispo city clerk.

Mejia, currently the city clerk in Pomona, will begin Oct. 7 at a starting salary of $98,800.

He succeeds Maeve Grimes, who left the city in July after less than a year. She made $82,607 annually.

Majia’s experience includes working as the deputy city clerk in Riverside and San Clemente. He also serves on the legislative committee of the City Clerks Association of California.

His past achievements include conducting voter outreach efforts, increasing public accessibility of official records, mentoring new clerks and improving office efficiencies, according to a news release issued by City Manager Katie Lichtig.

“Anthony’s experience, enthusiasm, integrity, and professionalism will be a great asset to our community,” said Lichtig.
