The 5 Cities Homeless Coalition will once again host a homeless awareness event, the second annual Empty Bowls Community Luncheon, on Wednesday.

For a $25 donation, participants get a meal of soup and bread, and a handcrafted souvenir bowl, according to a news release. All soups will be donated by local chefs and served by community members.

Last year’s event raised approximately $22,300 for the coalition, and drew more than 500 participants, Executive Director Jana Nichols told The Tribune on Tuesday.

This year, organizers are prepared for 600 to 800 participants, Nichols said.

The luncheon will take place at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall in Arroyo Grande from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Take-out options are available.
