Atascadero football team falls at St. Bonaventure

The Atascadero High football team lost at St. Bonaventure 35-24 Friday night.

Robbie Berwick had a rushing and a passing touchdown, but the Greyhounds fell on the road to the Seraphs.

St. Bonaventure scored on its opening drive, but Atascadero (2-2) responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Berwick to Sam Neely. 

St. Bonaventure (3-1) returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. Berwick responded with a 1-yard run to tie the score at 14 at the end of the first.

With the Seraphs up 28-14 in the second quarter, the Greyhounds settled for a 30-yard field goal by Eduardo Zambrano. Atascadero then had a successful onside kick, and Berwick threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Carr with 10 seconds to go in the half.

Atascadero received the second-half kickoff and moved the ball into the red zone, but threw an interception that was returned for an 85-yard touchdown. 

Atascadero had another long drive that ended with a turnover on downs. 

St. Bonaventure did not run an offensive play in the third quarter.

Atascadero had the ball in the St. Bonaventure red zone four times in the second half, but did not score because of the interception and three turnovers on downs.
