Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande wins PAC 7 girls volleyball opener

Templeton, Morro Bay also win in volleyball

The visiting Arroyo Grande High volleyball team swept St. Joseph 3-0 Thursday night to win its PAC 7 opener 25-15, 25-19, 25-19.

Ashlyn Herlihy had 13 kills, and Jamie Malsh had 10 kills for the Eagles (6-6). Megan McGuigan had nine kills, and Alaina Hogeboom had 34 assists and three aces.

Righetti 3, Paso Robles 0

The Warriors swept the Bearcats 25-22, 25-11, 25-16. 

Morgan Lawson had eight kills, and three aces and Maddi Chace had six kills for Paso Robles (7-4, 0-1 PAC 7).     

San Marcos 3, San Luis Obispo 0

The Royals swept the Tigers 25-17, 25-13, 25-19.

Holland Boege had 11 kills, and Casey Frost had 12 assists for San Luis Obispo (9-3).

Templeton 3, Lompoc 0

Autumn Russell had 11 kills, a .750 hitting percentage and four aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-5 sweep in their Los Padres League opener.

Mari Stewart had six kills, and Julie Cates had five kills for Templeton (6-0). Cece Mozzorotto had 10 assists and three aces, Kiley Koehen had eight assists and three aces, Marissa Torres had eight digs and Lucy Portillo had four blocks.

Morro Bay 3, Cabrillo 2

Sierra Emrick had 13 kills, 13 blocks and three aces for the Pirates, who rallied to win 18-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 20-18.

Sybella Paredes had 15 kills, 24 digs and eight aces for Morro Bay (2-4, 1-0 LPL), which trailed in the fifth set 10-5 at one point.

Kassie McClory had five kills, 14 digs and four aces, and Dani Donaldson had 26 assists for the Pirates.

Santa Ynez 3, Nipomo 1

Taylor Nevitt had 18 kills and 11 digs for the Titans, who lost their LPL opener 15-25, 25-11, 25-10, 25-15.

Sam Baker had 10 kills and 10 digs, and Megan Penaflor had 34 assists and 12 digs for Nipomo (2-4). 

Laguna Blanca 3, Mission Prep 1

Laguna Blanca won on the road 23-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-18.

Noelle Laird had 10 kills and 20 digs, and Rachel Hindmarsh had seven kills for the Royals (4-2).

Coastal Christian 3, Coast Union 1

The Conquerors topped the Broncos 25-27, 31-29, 25-18, 25-20. 

Bethany Young had 15 kills and 36 digs for Coastal Christian (2-0 Coast Valley League). Conqueror Roni Garrison had three kills, four aces and 45 digs, and setter Audrey Berdar had 23 assists.

Itzel Saavedra led Coast Union (1-5, 0-1) with 13 kills and had 19 digs, and Xue DiMaggio had nine kills. Cristina Plasencia had 38 digs, and Sage Radecki had 45 assists. 

North County Christian 3, Shandon 0

The Outlaws fell to the Crusaders 25-14, 25-14, 25-17. 

Aliyah Morrison had 11 kills, Kelsie McRoy had seven kills for North County Christian (4-5-3, 1-0 CVL), and Gabrielle Morrison had 14 aces and 19 assists.

GIRLS GOLF

PAC 7 Tournament

Neha Sikand of San Luis Obispo shot a 3-over 39 on the front nine at Cypress Ridge Golf Course to take medalist honors.

Righetti won the team title at 229, followed by the Tigers at 240. 

Arroyo Grande placed third (251) and was led by Tessa Oates, who shot a 45. 

Paso Robles finished fourth with a score of 282, and Atascadero finished at 306.

LPL Tournament 

Cabrillo won with a 237, followed by Nipomo (243) at the LPL tournament at the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Baylee Gregory of Cabrillo was the medalist, shooting 8-over 43 on the front nine.

Ashley Ruiz led the Titans with a 45.

Morro Bay was fourth out of six teams, with a 265, led by Lily Keogh, who shot  46.

GIRLS TENNIS

Paso Robles 10, Atascadero 8

Lindsey Horst won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 for the Bearcats, who won on the road despite only winning two doubles sets.

Maddie Berry swept 6-2, 6-0, 6-1 for Paso Robles (6-1, 2-1 PAC 7), and Katie Evenson won 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.

Arroyo Grande 16, Pioneer Valley 2

Hannah Angle swept 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 in singles in the Eagles’ win.

The Arroyo Grande (5-1, 3-0 PAC 7) doubles team of Joanne Phung and Angelica Gagliano swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.   

Lompoc 14, Morro Bay 4

The doubles team Sarah Keas and June Janzen swept 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 for Morro Bay (1-5, 0-3 LPL).

Templeton 13, Nipomo 5

The doubles team of Ashley Jimenez and Monica Guerrero swept 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 for Nipomo (3-3, 1-1 LPL).

BOYS WATER POLO

Cabrillo 16, Paso Robles 8

Eduardo Cardenas had five goals for Cabrillo as the visiting Conquistadores beat the Bearcats.

Simon Schoennauer had two goals for Paso Robles (3-5). 

Santa Ynez 8, San Luis Obispo 7

The Tigers rallied from a 7-3 deficit late in the third period to tie it with five minutes left in regulation. Santa Ynez scored with 15 seconds to go to win at home.

Dan Crozier had three goals for San Luis Obispo (6-3). Tim Maas had two goals, and Ian Bertrando and Nick Eaton each had one. Connor Troy made 13 saves in goal.

Atascadero 13, Nipomo 10

Dylan Linnenkamp had five goals, and Dylan Hughes had four goals to lead the Greyhounds over the Titans.

James Fisher had six saves for Atascadero (2-4).
