Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande girls win in tennis

Arroyo Grande High’s girls tennis team won 13-5 at home Wednesday over San Marcos. 

Sophie Whittle and Lauren Hayashi each won two singles matches. Whittle defeated Renee Handley, San Marcos’ top player, 6-2, and Hayashi beat Handley 6-1. 

Melina Rodgers won two of three matches in singles. 

Joanne Phung and Angelica Gagliano swept their doubles matches 6-3, 6-2, 6-0. 

The doubles team of Olivia Madison and Mikayla Landers won two of three sets for the Eagles (4-1).

Nipomo wins girls golf match

Nipomo High’s girls golf squad won 246-278 over Orcutt Academy at Monarch Dunes Golf Course. 

Nipomo’s Erin Shusterich was the medalist with a nine-hole score of 45. Nipomo’s Christine Delaby carded a 46; Ashley Ruiz and Paige Johnson each shot 49. 

Orcutt Academy was led by Maddy Cross.

Tigers top Panthers in girls volleyball

San Luis Obispo’s girls volleyball team rolled to a 25-9, 25-13, 25-16 PAC 7 road win against Pioneer Valley.

Holland Boege had eight kills and three aces for the Tigers (9-2, 1-0). Morgan Day and Anna Pedersen had six kills apiece. 

Casey Frost had 14 assists.
