Cal Poly sophomore golfer Jordan Wright tied a school record with a first-round 64, then followed with a 74 on the opening day Monday at the Ram Masters Invitational hosted by Colorado State at the Fort Collins Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
Wright’s 2-under-par 138 total over 36 holes is good for second place, one shot behind Cameron Harrell of Colorado State, who carded 70 and 67 for a 137 total.
Wright’s opening round tied the program record set by Chris Kirk at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Solvang in 2007 and by Grant Martens at the Braveheart Classic in Calimesa in 2012.
Luke Kristo of Sacramento State also has a 138 and is tied with Wright for second place.
The final round is set for this morning.
