Paso Robles runs past Santa Ynez in football

Bearcats have nearly 500 total yards in topping Pirates at home

The Paso Robles High football team rushed for 226 yards and passed for 251 in its 35-14 win over Santa Ynez on Friday night in Paso Robles.

Quarterback Gunnar Griffin led the Bearcats (1-1), passing for two touchdowns and running for another. He was 11-for-20 passing with no interceptions and rushed five times for 30 yards. 

Nathaniel Harris also ran over Santa Ynez’s defense for 147 yards on 14 carries.  Jimmy Pacheco was the Bearcats’ leading receiver with two catches for 85 yards, and Bailey Gaither had four catches for 71 yards. 

The Paso Robles defense held Santa Ynez (1-2) scoreless until the third quarter, when Daniel Gallardo caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Brock Dickey for the Pirates.
