Cal Poly volleyball swept by Cal

The Cal Poly volleyball team lost in three sets to tournament host Cal at the Cal Hilton Garden Inn Invitational on Thursday night.

Ranked No. 23 in the national coaches’ poll, the Golden Bears (6-0) won 25-15, 25-22, 25-16. Adrienne Gehan led Cal with 16 kills and nine digs, and Joan Caloiaro had 27 assists, five kills and five digs.

Megan McConnell led Cal Poly (4-3) with nine kills and seven digs. Taylor Gruenewald had eight kills, and Kate Walters had a team-high 10 digs. Maddie Kuber had 31 assists and seven digs.

The Mustangs next play today at 4:30 p.m. against Kansas State.
