Randy Tognazzini says that people will be impressed by the proposed Las Pilitas Quarry. Living in Arroyo Grande, Mr. Tognazzini will not have to contend with the fleet of trucks that will be clogging a narrow, curving Highway 58.
Further, the proposed entrance to the quarry will be just past the top of a hill, on a somewhat blind curve, which will doubtless result in at least one collision with a truck entering or leaving Highway 58.
The proposed quarry will further scar the land. There is already a quarry less than one mile from the proposed site. Are two scarred mountains better than one?
The proposed Las Pilitas Quarry, says Mr. Tognazzini, will benefit our area in many ways. Economically it will, for some, especially Mike Coles company. Environmentally, benefit seems doubtful. And at what cost?
