Rental regulations

The Short Rental Advocacy CenterSeptember 12, 2013

I applaud your paper for taking the long view with your editorial “SLO’s vacation rental rule has outstayed its welcome,” Aug 31.

Often the facts get lost in short-term rental regulation proceedings. The truth is, short-term rentals are often families and other tourists who bring enormous economic benefits to communities. Smart, efficient and easyto-understand regulations, such as the ones adopted in the Coachella Valley of California, for short-term rentals lead to widespread compliance and strike the right balance for all to enjoy the benefits of shortterm rentals.

These type of regulations are also helpful in boosting the local tax base. There are many great examples of towns that have developed common-sense regulations at stradvocacy.org  .
