Comics for all

CayucosSeptember 12, 2013

I am surprised that both Joe Gibson and Len Myers thought their choices for specific comics to be cut from The Tribune would go unnoticed.

It must be very difficult for newspapers to make comic selections to meet the diverse tastes of readers. “Mutts” and “Pearls Before Swine” are two of my favorites for very different reasons. And “Non Sequitur” was an acquired taste for me. Several comics have story lines, not just “Rex Morgan.” For instance, “Prince Valiant” has been in newspapers since I was a child; I suspect because of its beautiful illustrations as much as its story lines.

So gentlemen, don’t try to impose your own values on others. There is room for a broad range of comics.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
