The Nipomo High girls golf team edged Paso Robles 277-281 Wednesday in a nine-hole dual at the par-36 Monarch Dunes Golf Course.

Nipomo’s Brooke Cuzick and Paso Robles’ Jaclyn Hallahan shared medalist honors with a 50.

Paige Johnson and Violet Lopez shot 51 and 54, respectively, for Nipomo (1-2), and Mary Hamblyn shot a 53 for Paso Robles

GIRLS TENNIS

Santa Barbara 14, Arroyo Grande 4

Sophie Whittle swept her three singles sets, but the Eagles (1-1) lost on the road to Santa Barbara.

Whittle had a 6-4 win over Santa Barbara’s Mattea Kilsofte, who is ranked 41st in Southern California in the girls 16-year-old division. Lauren Hayashi lost 7-5 to Kilsofte. Hayashi won one of her three singles sets for Arroyo Grande’s other win.

“This high level of competition prepared us well for league play beginning (today),” Arroyo Grande coach Lori Hollister said.

The Eagles open PAC 7 play today at St. Joseph.
