CHP offers free child seat checkup in Nipomo

San Luis Obispo - The TribuneSeptember 11, 2013

A free car safety seat checkup will take place Saturday in Nipomo.

Trained technicians will be available to inspect and/or help install child safety restraints from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tefft and Blume streets.

Traffic citations will not be issued at the event, which is focused on “education, not enforcement,” according to a recent CHP news release.

Four out of five child passenger restraints are installed improperly or not adjusted to fit the child, the release said.

The event is hosted by the CHP and the San Luis Obispo County Health Department, with funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
