Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande sweeps Mission Prep in girls volleyball

San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Nipomo among other girls volleyball winners

Ashlyn Herlihy led the Arroyo Grande High volleyball team with 16 kills and four blocks in a 3-0 win over Mission Prep on Tuesday night in Arroyo Grande.

Kacee Fox had 26 digs as the Eagles won 25-11, 25-6, 25-14. Alaina Hogeboom 

had 31 assists, and Kate Empey had seven aces and 11 digs for Arroyo Grande (2-1).

Claire Bachman led the Royals (2-1) with 10 digs and three aces. 

San Luis Obispo 3, Morro Bay 0

The Tigers swept the Pirates 25-21, 25-16, 25-21. 

Molly Maguire led San Luis Obispo with nine kills, and Holland Boege hadeight kills. Cambria Joyce had 24 assists for the Tigers (2-0). 

Kassie McClory had nine kills and 12 digs for Morro Bay (1-3), and Sybella Paredes also had nine kills. 

Atascadero 3, Cabrillo 0 

Kendall Featherstone had 19 kills and four digs for the Greyhounds in their 25-14, 25-21, 25-17 sweep of the Conquistadors. 

Brooke Harbottle led Atascadero (2-1) with 30 assists, and Sabrina Degnan had 14 digs. Kathryn Sedley and Maren Cracknell both had seven kills. 

Paso Robles 3, Lompoc 2 

With the Braves serving at match point, the Bearcats fought back and beat Lompoc 14-25, 25-9, 14-25, 25-20, 16-14. 

Morgan Lawson led the Bearcats with 16 kills, 10 aces and nine digs. 

Kailey Warren had five kills and six digs, and Lexi Kuehl had nine digs for Paso Robles (2-0).

Nipomo 3, Coast Union 1

Taylor Nevitt had a match-high 21 kills with nine digs and two aces as the Titans 

(2-1) beat the Broncos 25-16, 25-18, 6-25, 28-26.

With a 2-0 lead, Nipomo put in backup players in the third set, but after the lopsided Broncos win in the set, Nipomo had its starters back in for the fourth set.

Megan Penaflor had 19 assists and three kills, Sammi Baker had with 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces, and Mercedes Rodriguez had 15 digs for Nipomo.

Itzel Saavedra led Coast Union (1-2) with 10 kills and five aces. Cristina Plasencia had 27 digs, and Sage Radecki had 29 assists, 12 digs and four aces.

Templeton 3, Pioneer Valley 0

The Eagles stayed undefeated with a 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 victory at Pioneer Valley. 

Mari Stewart had a team-high nine kills for Templeton (3-0), Josi Kelly had 10 assists and five aces, Lauren Ralston had five kills, and Cece Mazzarotto had six aces and six assists for the Eagles.  

Coastal Christian 3, Shandon 0

The Conquerors swept the Outlaws in their Coast Valley League opener 25-6, 25-17, 25-9.

Roni Garrison had 12 aces and four kills, and Delaney Springer had 10 aces. Bethany Young had 12 kills and three aces for Coastal Christian (5-3).

GIRLS GOLF

San Luis Obispo 230, Orcutt Academy 283

Neha Sikand of San Luis Obispo was the medalist with a 3-over 39 on the front nine at Dairy Creek Golf Course.

Lisa Figueroa shot a 42, Nora Zakaria shot a 43, Bee Soll shot a 49 and Shelby Thomas shot a 57 for the Tigers (3-0).

Maddy Cross led the Spartans with a 51.

GIRLS TENNIS

San Luis Obispo 17, Mission Prep 1

The Tigers (2-2) won all nine doubles sets 6-0 against the Royals.

The doubles teams of Lauren Hutkin and Caroline Burke, and Ivee Collins and Annaliese Lippold each won three sets. 

Sophia Moreno won 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 in singles.

Maiya Clark won one set 6-2 for the Royals (0-3).

Lompoc 18, Coast Union 0

The Broncos are now 0-2 on the season.

BOYS WATER POLO 

Paso Robles 10, Nipomo 8

The Bearcats held off the Titans as Daniel Maloney and Kohl Coffee led Paso Robles with four goals apiece. 

Isaiah Baker had the other two goals, and goalie Gabe Hingley had 14 saves for the Bearcats (3-1).
